Alexandra Orput Souhala,
  • LCSW

Mental Health Therapist

Born and raised in Rockford, IL, Alex pursued her Bachelor of Social Work from Bradley University (IL). After working with teens impacted by mental health and substance use, she followed her intuition to pursue social work in Los Angeles, CA. While completing her MSW at USC, Alex fueled her passion during her internships as a trauma therapist at the Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center and a Jails Project intern at the ACLU of Southern California. Alex has been lucky to work with survivors of trauma, youth impacted by mental health, substance use and homelessness and individuals impacted by incarceration throughout L.A. County, San Diego County and Northern IL.

Alex has always had a passion for working with teens and is both thankful and stoked to be on the empowering Mending Matters team. Alex’s passions include destigmatizing mental health by finding healing in everyday moments / conversations and supporting youth as they uncover their best selves and explore their identity. Alex is inspired by youth discovering and aligning with their own healing process, whether that’s through music, being in nature, sharing their story, through sports, or anything that feels right to them!

Alex is rejuvenated by playing with her puppy, Kovu, catching sunsets, heading to the beach or mountains, and learning more about sustainability.
