Caitlin Zahlis

Caitlin is a social worker with a love for expressive arts, cooking with friends, foggy days, and the ocean. After growing up in one of California’s biggest deserts, Caitlin achieved her goal of moving to the beach when she started college at UC San Diego.

After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UCSD in 2015, she spent a year as a substitute teacher in her hometown – Clovis, California. While she loved being a teacher, Caitlin realized she enjoyed working one-on-one with students the most. After meeting a school social worker at one of her school sites, Caitlin discovered she wanted to apply to graduate school to offer support to students in school settings. Caitlin attended San Diego State University’s social work program, during which she served internships in the La Mesa-Spring Valley and Escondido school districts, as well as assisted with research on the Commercialization and Sexual Exploitation of Children.

Caitlin is thrilled to be a team member at Mending Matters, and is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Caitlin enjoys watercolor painting, living walking-distance from Little Italy’s restaurants, markets and gelato shops, as well as collecting sea glass and spending as much time at the beach as possible!
