Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, Kate learned the value of accepting and supportive relationships. She attended a small liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, NY graduating with her bachelors in social work in 2010 where these beliefs continued to be fostered. During this time, she held internships in various areas including working in a prison, a substance abuse facility, and a hospice home. After college, Kate became a team leader at an adolescent Residential Treatment Facility in Upstate New York. It was this experience that connected Kate to the amazing, hilarious, and resilient youth that she has continued to work with for the past six years. Although she loved living in the Adirondack Mountains, after two years she was offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to live in Shanghai, China working with students with special needs. While in China, Kate enjoyed taking snowboarding trips to Japan, hiking in Thailand, and exploring the fascinating cities of central China. She then returned to the US and moved to Southern California where she earned her master’s degree in Social Work from San Diego State University in 2015.
Kate is excited to be a part of the Mending Matters team, where the needs of youth come first and support is readily accessible. Kate is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and continues to enjoy working alongside youth and creating worthwhile relationships.
Kate enjoys living near the beach, mountain biking, being outside, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
