Mental Health Therapist

Alexis grew up on the East Coast in Pennsylvania, but for five years dreamed of relocating to sunny San Diego, CA. She spent most of her youth volunteering, participating in theater and singing her lungs out in chorus at school. Alexis decided to pursue a career in social work at the age of 12 years old. Before entering the mental health field, Alexis worked as a nanny and has always loved pouring into youth and empowering them to use their voice. Alexis attended West Chester University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work and following graduation, worked in child welfare with families experiencing child abuse and neglect.

After working in the child welfare field for 4 years, Alexis pursued her Master’s degree in social work online at the University of Southern California. Following graduation, Alexis worked for two years in community mental health providing family and individual therapy to youth at risk of out of home placement. She believes that although our life experiences and traumas shape and change us, healing is possible and believes all people should be given a chance (or many chances) to experience hope and radical acceptance. Alexis hopes to continue to empower youth and their families with the Mending Matters team.
