Gabriella Talamantes
BSW Intern
Gabriella is a first-generation Queer Mexican-American student at San Diego State University where she is majoring in Social Work. Her interest in Social Work began in the Fall of 2019 when she took her first abnormal psychology class where she had learned about the disorders that they had struggled with. Alongside this, they learned about a variety of eating disorders, mental/personality disorders, the support available for individuals dealing with these disorders, and became passionate about supporting them. Inspired by this coursework, Gabriella worked towards transferring into SDSU from San Diego City College to pursue her bachelor’s degree. They currently work as a Registered Behavior Technician and Caregiver with children and young adults. Gabriella aspires to pursue a license in Clinical Social Work to continue working with youth and children and help provide queer/trans support.
When Gaby is not busy studying for class, they enjoy listening to mental health podcasts, participates in outreach activities for the Methodist Church in Chula Vista to help underserved families, and playing video games!
