Janelle was born and raised in Southern California, where she stayed throughout her education and professional career. Janelle graduated from California State University Fullerton with her Bachelor’s in Sociology and minor in Child Adolescent Development. Shortly after her undergraduate, Janelle pursued her Master’s degree at University of Southern California for Marriage and Family Therapy. During her education, Janelle gained experience in working in school-based settings to address the academic and social emotional needs of youth.

After graduating from USC, Janelle developed a passion for working with the justice system. Janelle worked alongside the San Diego Probation Department by supporting youth in juvenile halls and while on probation to address needs in mental health, substance use, and case management.

Janelle loves holding space for youth and empowering them to reach their highest potential. Janelle practices with cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed care. Janelle looks forward to contributing to the Mending Matters team!

In her free time, Janelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going out to eat, and reading a good book.
