Sheba was born and raised in Penang, Malaysia. She completed her undergraduate degree in Human Development in University Putra Malaysia. She moved to the United States 15 years ago and continued her career in financial services. In 2013, she decided to do a career change to pursue her deep desire to be in the field of serving others. During this career transition, she completed her certificate program in Substance Abuse Counseling at University of California San Diego Extension in 2015. Her life experiences, prior volunteering efforts, as well as experiences from substance abuse counseling led her to pursue Master of Social Work from San Diego State University. She graduated in May 2018 and joined the Mending Matters team shortly after.
She has worked with rural communities, foster youth, active military duty service members, children, adolescents, and their families. She hopes to use her training and professional experiences to help create an environment where human growth and development can flourish on its own.
Sheba enjoys the outdoors, cooking, reading, and movies. She takes pleasure in hiking whenever she can, and she makes a trip to a national park every year. She deeply values the opportunities she has had in this country to pursue her passion and dreams.
