Stephen was born and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio and enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating high school where he served out of Southern California. After his service, Stephen attended Cleveland State University where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in Social Studies and History. During his undergraduate degree, Stephen decided to pursue a career in the field of mental health after learning how impactful trauma can be for individuals and society, and from his own experience with friends and family struggling to overcome their own mental health challenges. Stephen found his passion in working with adolescents, and worked as a counselor in a residential setting for youth with mental and behavioral challenges while attending the Master of Social Work program at Cleveland State University. During graduate school, Stephen interned as a Community Therapist in the inner-city of Cleveland and solidified his passion to work with adolescents. Stephen developed a strong desire to work with those who have experienced trauma and greatly appreciates the resiliency of adolescents to overcome adversity and traumatic lived experiences. Stephen moved to San Diego to continue to work as a social worker and is proud to be a part of a team so dedicated to helping adolescents overcome adversity and be their best selves with Mending Matters.
Stephen enjoys hiking around San Diego, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his dog, friends, and family.
