Vanessa Tan, AMFT

Regional Lead & Mental Health Therapist

Vanessa is an avid traveller and has lived and worked in cities in Southeast Asia and the East Coast before relocating to San Diego, California. She loves emerging herself in different cultures and experiencing the local ways of living in various cities around the world. During her time at University at Buffalo pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, she was a teaching assistant in numerous elementary schools and had the privilege of working with a diversified population of young children and their families. Vanessa also spent time in Taiwan teaching English as a second language to elementary and middle school children. Recognizing how much culture influences an individual’s upbringing and lived experiences, she sought to explore the effects of how it goes on to mold one’s perspective and methods of interpersonal communication.

Vanessa graduated with a Master’s in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University and continues to work with adolescents and their families. She enjoys comedies, derives satisfaction from baking, and loves spending time with her bear-like Pomeranian.
