Peyton Merrill,
- APCC
Mental Health Therapist
I was born in The Woodlands, Texas, and spent a few years living overseas in London, England. Growing up between two different places gave me an early appreciation for different perspectives, experiences, and ways of seeing the world. That curiosity about people and their experiences has continued to shape my interest in working with children and teens.
I studied Psychology at Oklahoma State University before moving to San Diego to earn my Master’s in School-Based Clinical Counseling from the University of San Diego. I hold a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling and am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
I’m especially drawn to working with young people during the years when they are figuring out who they are, navigating challenges, and building confidence. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and cognitive behavioral techniques, with an emphasis on creating a space where students feel comfortable being themselves. I believe that building trust is an important part of the work, and I strive to give students and families practical tools that they can use in their everyday lives.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me at the beach, reading a good book, trying a new restaurant, or spending time with family and friends.
