Gabriela Garcia-Turner,

  • PPSC

Family & Mental Health Resource Coordinator

Gabriela grew up in sunny San Diego and spent much of her free time visiting San Francisco where she was born and most of her family lived. Traveling between the two places enriched Gabriela with a diverse experience that sparked her curiosity of learning about cultural perspectives. Gabriela studied at San Francisco State University where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Humanities. Shortly after, she began working in a community-based setting with children and youth who experienced high levels of trauma. Gabriela felt passionate about supporting those who experienced hardship and adversity.

In 2016, Gabriela moved back to San Diego to pursue her Masters of Social Work at San Diego State University. During graduate school, Gabriela worked as a behavioral support specialist and interned with various school-based programs throughout San Diego providing social and emotional support. Interning in a school setting, Gabriela received her Pupil Personnel Services Credential. Once an intern at Mending Matters, Gabriela is once again excited to be a part of the Mending Matters team and support adolescents.

After work you can find Gabriela playing soccer, at the beach and trying new and exotic foods.
