Mental Health Therapist

Kyra Brandt grew up in Southern California before beginning her undergraduate experience at UC Santa Cruz studying Anthropology and Studio Arts. She then completed her graduate degree at San Diego State University with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy with a Spanglish Certificado.

Prior to joining Mending Matters, she provided bilingual individual and family therapy services onsite at a San Diego high school and in private practice. Kyra solidified her passion for collaborating with youth and their families during these experiences, and is excited to be providing accessible therapy on school campuses.

Kyra believes that each person’s story is a powerful tool in their therapeutic journey– especially with youth! She incorporates narrative, contextual family and art therapy interventions to nurture growth. Kyra is committed to serving underserved and diverse communities with culturally responsive care that promotes justice and restorative healing. She feels privileged and humbled to witness each person’s story as they embody their authentic selves.

Kyra deeply loves her San Diego community. In her free time she is exploring San Diego’s beaches and nature trails, gardening, making art, trying new food, and spending time with family and friends.
